Real World: i-Pharm Edition - With Rob ZavallosWhat's it like to win Top Biller only after joining our office 2 months ago? Listen to what Rob has to say about his career progression and why he joined i-Pharm in London.
When did you start working at i-Pharm?
10th June was my first day 😊
What initially attracted you to recruitment and why did you choose to work at i-Pharm?
I was working in car sales and looking for a change. At the time, three of my closest mates were working in recruitment. I asked them more about it and once I’d done my own research, I realised this was the career path for me. I chose to work at i-Pharm because 1) Melissa is amazing and 2) I got a good feeling once I entered the building. I didn't get this feeling at a lot of other agencies that I was interviewing at...there was something about i-Pharm that just really stood out to me.
What training has i-Pharm offered you to support your personal growth to date?
The training system here is brilliant. There is a great structure set in place and it runs alongside your working days allowing you to then apply everything you have learned. I had the wonderful Harrison Ryle taking me through the foundations training program and he is brilliant. He made the training very interactive and tailored to your needs. The market insights document on my industry helped me set up my desk and enabled me to find my niche within the market quickly as well.
Recruitment has its challenges – how do you stay motivated?
I have a post-it note on my desk that says “Patience is key”. Reminds me to stay calm and just keep putting the effort it, you can only get out what you put in.
What advice would you give a graduate considering a career in recruitment?
Do it! But seriously coming in to i-Pharm has been brilliant. I’ve been given the tools and desk to work for myself. Putting in the long hours and continuous grafting from day one has allowed me to qualify for the upcoming lunch club, earn a 4pm finish, win August top biller and win MVP for August. It was an incredible feeling going up and getting my award and bottle of champagne in front of my colleagues who voted for me.
Favourite thing about working at i-Pharm!
The people, they are truly the best group of people.
Finally, what's your favourite hobby outside of work?
I like to work on cars and motorbikes - currently building a bobber bike.
Wow, Rob - Congratulations on everything you have done in August! We can't wait to share that champagne with you later this week.
