Medical Director – Pulmonology
Location: USA - up to 25% travel
About the Role:
We are working with a global biopharmaceutical company, known for its leadership in respiratory and rare disease innovation. Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Medical Director – Pulmonology to lead the indication strategy and implementation of Medical Affairs across all regions. You will develop and drive all medical affairs activities—spanning Medical Excellence, HEOR, Field Medical, Medical Information, scientific communications, and publications—with strong cross‑functional collaboration across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape and lead the medical strategy for the respiratory indication, aligning with company goals and ensuring cross‑functional buy‑in.
- Develop and execute medical affairs plans that deliver on key milestones, especially around product launch readiness.
- Provide medical leadership to stakeholders across Clinical, Operations, HEOR, Commercial, etc., ensuring a strong medical perspective.
- Build and manage external networks—thought leaders, investigators, scientific experts—to support the indication and inform strategy.
- Define a data generation strategy, including gap analysis, to support evidence generation and lifecycle planning.
- Oversee scientific communications: publications, medical backgrounders, FAQs, training materials.
- Lead thought leader engagement strategies.
- Manage medical affairs budgets in partnership with Strategy, Regions, and Finance.
- Collaborate broadly with other functions (Commercial, Development, Regions) to ensure cohesive execution and adherence to “One Medical / Franchise” approach.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, legal, and regulatory standards.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Medical degree (MD preferred; PharmD / PhD considered), with 6+ years (ideally 8+) experience in Medical Affairs or clinical development.
- Demonstrated experience in pulmonology / allergy / respiratory therapeutic area.
- Previous launch planning and execution experience.
- Leadership experience—leading medical affairs teams, managing influence in matrixed organization.
- Global or multi‑region experience is a plus, especially including US.
