Senior Automation Engineer – Initial 12-Month Contract


Position Summary:


We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to deliver technical projects across manufacturing intelligence and automation systems. This role will oversee change management, lifecycle analysis, and provide subject matter expertise within automation.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Work with a wide range of automation systems and equipment including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, Servers, Databases, Data Historians, and Visualization tools.
  • Support and design networking solutions, including VLANs, Subnets, and IP protocols.
  • Lead automation efforts in the design, optimization, commissioning, and validation of new and existing equipment.
  • Act as the automation subject matter expert, collaborating cross-functionally and supporting process development.
  • Review and approve technical documentation such as requirements, specifications, drawings, and coding standards.
  • Provide training, technical guidance, and knowledge transfer to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot issues with a structured approach, identifying both temporary and long-term solutions.
  • Author, review, and update SOPs, specifications, and qualification documentation.
  • Ensure systems and equipment are maintained in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Drive improvements in productivity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead and support investigations, audits, and inspections, including interactions with regulatory bodies.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call system providing 24/7 support when required.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Extensive experience supporting manufacturing operations within a regulated or cGMP environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA), ideally including Rockwell, Inductive (Ignition), Aveva (Wonderware), Siemens, Emerson (GE), or B&R.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of GMP principles, GAMP 5, and ISA standards.
  • Familiarity with FactoryTalk Batch, Data Historian systems, and Microsoft SQL database design.
