ROLE: Pharmacist in Charge

POSITION SUMMARY

The RadioPharmacist shall be responsible for performing or supervising cognitive and disruptive activities required for the provision of optimal pharmaceutical care to our customers and their respective patients. You will advise on all decisions related to pharmacy practice issues/matters.

DESCRIPTION

  • Supervise entire production/dispensing process and assure the use of good aseptic technique when manipulating parenteral dosage forms (the extent of supervisory duties is shift-specific)
  • Perform, or oversee, quality control testing of radiopharmaceuticals and instrumentation, and maintain records of such testing
  • Assist with entering required data into radio pharmacy software program
  • Print labels and various forms required for documentation of radiopharmaceutical production, compounding, dispensing, and distribution.
  • Elute Mo-99/Tc-99m generators; test eluate for Mo-99 breakthrough and dilute eluate to standardised concentrations, as required.
  • Radiolabel reagent kits with Tc-99m or other radionuclides, as appropriate.
  • Dispense doses of various radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Ensure that all compounded radiopharmaceuticals meet accepted radiochemical purity standards before they are administered to patients.
  • Ensure that all packages (transport cases) are properly marked and labelled and that shipping documents are accurate and complete before doses leave the pharmacy.
  • Ensure that good radiation safety practices (and all safety practices) are strictly adhered to
  • Be aware of personal exposures and exposure records, and strive to maintain personal exposure as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
  • Perform, or oversee, radiation monitoring of the pharmacy (for fixed and removable [loose] contamination) and maintain records of such monitoring activities.
  • Coordinate with other pharmacists all procedures and testing required for environmental monitoring of the pharmacy.
  • Ensure the completion of operations, measurements, testing, and record keeping required for compliance with external regulatory bodies and internal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations governing radio pharmacy practice
  • Ensure that prescriptions are obtained from all practices for both diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with state pharmacy regulations.
  • Share weekend and public holiday responsibilities with other pharmacists, as per roster.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as required from time to time.
  • On a rotational or as-needed basis, be prepared to perform the duties of staff who are on leave in various locations

REQUIREMENTS
