When did you start working at i-Pharm?

September 2012

 

 

What initially attracted you to recruitment and why did you choose to work at i-Pharm?

I was attracted to recruitment as it rewards you continuously and has strong earning potential provided you work hard. Essentially, what you put in is what you get out. I realised it is not a 9-5 job with a salary that is stuck. If you do deals and work hard, you can earn good commission, so coming from a sales background (selling laptops and washing machines in Comet), I knew I had to be in a sales environment. I chose i-Pharm as they were an ambitious company looking to expand and the interviewers were very personable – people I could get on with.

 

How did you achieve your recent promotion to Managing Consultant? What is your advice to consultants that are looking to take the next step in their careers?

I had a target to hit for Q2 2018 and was able to hit it. This target was a personal target along with my team target.

 

I chose i-Pharm as they were an ambitious company looking to expand and the interviewers were very personable – people I could get on with.

 

 

How has your manager helped you achieve this promotion?

He was able to help me by giving me a target, ongoing managerial training and support. He gave me a clear objective and provided me with contact updates and motivated me to become better.  

 

 

What training has i-Pharm offered you to support your personal growth to date?

I had plenty of 1:1 sessions with my direct line manager (Charles Sealey) in regards to areas of growth from a management perspective. I also had support from the learning and development team (Leah Naffah), whereby I was able to develop more skills.   

 

Recruitment has its challenges – how do you stay motivated?

I think about my family and bills that I must pay. I want to be successful and am naturally a driven individual.

It also helps that we have Table Tennis tournaments quite reguarly, so it's a nice way to stay motivated and blow off some steam at the same time. The office is really great about offering support and advice for any situations that arise. It's easy to stay motivated when everyone around you is so supportive. 

 

 

What advice would you give a graduate considering a career in recruitment?

You must have good work ethic, be smart and creative.
