Associate Director of Maintenance

Location: Netherlands

Job Type: Full-time, Temp to Perm, 6 Month Contract initially

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of Maintenance to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role is essential in ensuring the optimal availability and functionality of our installations, systems, and buildings within the Maintenance department. The successful candidate will oversee corrective and preventive maintenance activities in alignment with GMP guidelines, aiming to maximise equipment uptime, minimise downtime, and enhance overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement maintenance strategies aligned with business objectives, guiding and directing the Maintenance team.
  • Personnel Management: Lead and support a team composed of a team leader and maintenance engineers, overseeing performance assessments, training, development, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Optimise maintenance strategies, manage budgets, supervise the maintenance team, and collaborate with other departments to enhance production processes.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate maintenance activities and minimise operational disruptions.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and industry standards, maintaining a safe working environment.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proven experience in maintenance leadership within pharmaceutical or similar manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance strategies, TPM, Six Sigma, and Lean principles
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders


  • English speaking necessary; Dutch is advantageous
  • Standard business hours, 40 hours per week on-site
  • Extended experience with reliability aspects and maintenance management on predictive and corrective aspects
  • Experience managing 20 or more direct reports is advantageous
