Chief Business Officer: Leading Strategic Partnerships for Breakthrough Therapies

Location: USA

Salary range: $350-450,000 plus benefits, compensation, bonus etc.

A leading biotech company pioneering in CAR-T cell and gene therapy solutions is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Chief Business Officer (CBO) to spearhead the business development efforts.

The CBO role is for a visionary leader with a passion for accelerating innovation in cell and gene therapy to be a key figure in the US.

We are interested in speaking with experienced VPs or CBOs who thrive on building strategic partnerships, have a proven background in deal navigation; opportunity identification to deal closing, and ensuring an efficient process through thorough qualification, expert negotiation, and execution.


  • A clinical-stage CAR-T biotech with a pioneering platform demonstrating unparalleled efficacy and safety results, having innovate solutions to overcome host rejection and achieve long persistence.
  • Active support from top US leukaemia and lymphoma KOLs from institutions incl. MDACC, MSK, Moffitt and Mayo
  • Potential to be the key figure in the first US drug approval of its kind in history

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have deep industry knowledge, exceptional negotiating skills, and relationship-building expertise to identify and secure collaborations that accelerate the development and commercialization of our transformative therapies.
  • Develop and run a comprehensive business development strategy focused on identifying and securing high-value partnerships with complementary biotech companies.
  • Develop and leads a licensing strategy to in-license or out-license assets that complement or support the portfolio, with a focus on maximizing value for the CAR-T launch and future pipeline
  • Lead negotiations for strategic partnerships, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and maximizing shareholder value.
  • Manage and cultivate relationships with key decision-makers at potential partner companies.
  • Conduct thorough deal due diligence and lead the integration process for successful partnerships.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and identify emerging technologies and assets that complement our pipeline.
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial reporting to Board/ Executives into clear narratives that inform strategic decisions, highlighting key metrics and overall business performance.
  • The ability to travel and have flexibility will be important for this opportunity. Remote working will be offered


  • Education: Masters or above within a life sciences or related degree i.e. biochemistry.
  • Prior exposure working within a biotech/ pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience from a financial/ consulting organisation would be a benefit.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience within a Business Development focus position or as a Chief Business Officer.
  • A proven track record of success in business development and strategic partnerships.
  • In-depth knowledge of cell and gene therapies, clinical development processes, and the commercialization landscape.
  • Strong understanding of deal structuring, negotiation strategies, and risk management principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative and results-oriented leadership style with a passion for building high-performing teams.
